Amundsen

Even Amundsen is a freelance concept artist from Norway.

 

Over the course of his career, he’s been working for studios like Volta, Blizzard Entertainment, Riot Games, Games Workshop, Wizards of the Coast and many more. He’s collaborated with Spirindon Giannakis on the successfully Kickstarted TEGN book series, and was involved in projects like Lord of the Rings Online, as well as titles from the Warhammer and Magic: The Gathering series.

 

Even loves traveling, he’s fascinated and inspired by fantasy and is always eager to share his knowledge with other artists.

Previously a game modder, he’s a co-author of Olbrzym w cieniu — a book about video game narration — and spends his free time painting miniatures. Błażej graduated from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, worked as a Quest Designer on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Blood and Wine expansion and is currently involved in the works on Cyberpunk 2077

Sylwia Bomba is a digital artist and art supervisor.

 

Sylwia graduated from the Academy of Digital Arts in Florence in 2014 and became a drawing instructor at AnimSchool Academy, Utah. Her art has been featured on TV and in many publications such as 3dtotal, 2dmagazine, GRAPHITE, {slow} and Trendy. She also won several prestigious illustration competitions.

 

In the past, Sylwia collaborated with studios such as Disney and Pixar, as well as brands like Coca-Cola, Barbie, Looney Tunes and Chupa Chups. Currently, she is working on an unannounced project.

Sergi Brosa is a freelance 2D Concept Artist from Barcelona and specializes in the sci-fi genre.

 

With over 5 years of experience in the video game industry, he’s worked with some of the biggest developers in the world, including Riot and Ubisoft. Currently, he’s is a Senior Concept Artist at Gearbox Software where he’s concepting main characters and villians for Borderlands 3.  

 

In his free time, Sergi works on a personal project called Fury Beats.

Matt Cexwish is an architect and urbanist working in numerous fields of art.

 

He graduated from Berlin University of the Arts and the University of Illinois at Chicago where he studied Architecture and Urbanism. His diploma project — an Acoustic Hammam — has earned him worldwide recognition and multitude of awards, such as the Max Taut Award, a BDA-SARP Award and an Olympic Bronze Medal earned through an IOC/IAKS Award. At the same time, Matt was busy building and painting props as well as various models for major blockbusters such as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,Clash of the Titans and Star Wars: Rogue One.

 

In 2010, he started his own company — überliner. Together, they collaborated on variety of projects and organized miniature painting and motivational workshops all around the globe. In his work, Matt uses a magnitude of different techniques — from building intricate miniature dioramas, individual scale models and props to architectural concepts using cutting-edge technologies like 3D printing.

Paul Chadeisson is an illustrator and concept artist, working in video game and film industries.

 

He started his career working for DONTNOD Entertainment on a video game called Remember Me. In 2012, he co-founded Ragequit Corporation — an independent video game company. The team developed and published two titles — Strike Vector and Strike Vector EX.

 

Paul has since became a freelance artist. His list of clients includes studios like CD PROJEKT RED, NCSoft’s ArenaNet, 343 Industries, Walt Disney Pictures, Alcon Entertainment, Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, Square Enix, Unit Image, OATS Studios, as well as The Senate VFX. He contributed to films like Jungle Cruise, Robin Hood (2018), Anon, Mute, BLADE RUNNER 2049: Black Out 2022 and The Surge, and games such as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Alien 5, Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV and Tron: Uprising.

Konrad Czernik is an experienced concept artist, working on video games since 2006. He loves helping out young artists get into the concept art industry and develop skills in the craft.

 

First by hand, then in digital form, he designed environments, props, characters and storyboards for most of Techland’s releases, as well as Shortbreak Studios’. This includes titles such as Dead Island, Call of Juarez and Hellraid. During this time, he became in charge of Techland’s entire concept art team as Concept Art Lead and — later — Character Art Director.

 

Konrad is currently involved in the studio’s TBA AAA title as Senior Concept Artist. He’s passionate about sculpturing as well as comic books — and works on his own personal comic book project set in a post apocalyptic setting.

Michał Czyżewski is a firearms designer at FB Radom Arms Factory and the lead designer of the MSBS-5.56/RAWAT project which aims to develop a new Modular Small Arms System. In his career, he developed a bullpup version of the MSBS Grot 5.56 mm rifle, starting from CAD files, to rapid prototyping, to supervising and testing of prototypes. The MSBS-5.56B/Grot B rifle is now available in 5 different configurations.

With an academic experience spanning arts and computer science, a PhD in the Dynamic Graphics Project at the University of Toronto, as well as over ten years of industry experience in graphic design, Pif uses the acquired knowledge in research and development of an automatic speech animation solution called JALI — Jaw And Lips Integration. This specialized set of tools is fit for a wide range of workflows and is used in industries such as entertainment, medicine and education.

Kaname Fujioka

Kaname Fujioka is the director of Capcom’s Monster Hunter series of games.

 

He joined Capcom in 1993 as an art designer, working on such titles as War-Zard,Street Fighter Alpha 3, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures, Darkstalkers 3 and the Capcom vs. SNK series. The first game he directed was also the first installment of the Monster Hunter series — Monster Hunter, released in 2004 for PlayStation 2.

 

Since then, he took the role of director of every main game in the franchise and is the Executive Director and Art Director of the recently released Monster Hunter: World. Fujioka’s name can also be found in the credits of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Marek Gajowski currently works at Platige Image as a CG Supervisor.


He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland where he studied Graphic Design. He started his career as an editor and graphic designer. He later became a generalist and a compositing supervisor in Alvernia Studios and joined Platige Image in 2015. Marek was involved in such projects as Frostpunk, Popota Natal, Jaguar Playground and Rojst.

Bogna Gawrońska is an illustrator and concept artist based in Warsaw, Poland, currently working full time at CD PROJEKT RED, where she creates illustrations for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game and Thronebreaker. Her works were printed in The Best Polish Illustrators: Concept Art album and presented at Polish Digital Art exhibition.

 

Bogna’s primary focus in art are characters — she likes to tell stories by trying to capture moments and impressions in a still image. In her free time, she draws book cover illustrations. She recently took interest in photography, which she uses to train her composition skills. She loves history, mythology and films, which are her personal escape and never ending source of inspiration.

Spiridon Giannakis is a graphic designer from Germany whose portfolio consists of magazines for flying companies such as TUIfly and Thomas Cook, as well as publications focused on regional tourism. Since 2006, he’s produced over 70 books and collaborated on many more.

 

For 5 years now, he’s been freelancing for advertising agencies and works as a publisher and designer for artbooks, having collaborated with Even Mehl Amundsen on the TEGN book series. He’s also the founder of the Firestarter Community Magazine — a publication intended to be a network node for all the relevant events of the creative industry.

Diego Gisbert Llorens is a freelance illustrator and concept artist.

 

Diego’s interests in art began in his early childhood. He graduated Illustration and Fine Arts at the University of Valencia, and became a Concept Artist for Mercury Steam Entertainment, where he worked on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 1 and 2. He also attended several events as a speaker and was a teacher of both traditional illustration and digital art at a private art and animation school in Spain.


Since becoming a freelancer in 2010, his client list grew significantly. He’s particularly well-known for his Warhammer and Warhammer 40K-related work, in cooperation with GamesWorkshop, but he also worked with, among others, Behaviour Interactive, Aeria Games, Paizo, Fantasy Flight Games, Creative Assembly, SEGA, Volta, Konami, Alderac, Axis Animation and CD PROJEKT RED.

Adrianna "Ada" Glowacka is concept artist and illustrator working as freelancer for the entertainment industry. She’s a graduate from Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology majored in New Media Art in Warsaw, Poland and co-founder of Studio Conceptverse.

 

Even though Adrianna currently works using mostly digital techniques, the traditional way is very important in her repertoire. During her career, she worked for companies like Platige Image, Buck and Akson and designed VR games, stage musicals and game cinematics.

Adam Goldstein is an artist with a variety of skills — from concept art, modeling, texturing and lighting to matte painting and compositing.

 

After five years at Technicolor, where he was involved in various commercials and films, he joined Meduzarts to work on cinematics for games such as Mortal Kombat X and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, as well as promotional and box art for games like Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and The Elder Scrolls Online.

Peter Han is a concept artist with over 14 years of entertainment industry experience. After graduating Art Center College of Design at the end of 2004, he has worked with studios like Technicolor, Bottle Rocket Studios, Trion Worlds, Sony Interactive Entertainment San Diego, Nexus Productions and several more. In 2010, Han took up teaching in design fundamentals at several schools based in Los Angeles, CA, including Art Center College of Design, Concept Design Academy and CG Master Academy.

Marcin Minor is a painter and illustrator, who also uses art as a way of helping others — he conducts individual therapy group classes and workshops as an art and sensory integration therapist.

 

Marcin graduated with honors from the European Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Since then, he’s been working with many publishing houses and presented his art at a multitude of individual and collective exhibitions. He specializes in acrylic, watercolor, ink, dry pastels and digital painting.

Kate Niemczyk is an illustrator whose main focus lies on comic books.

 

Her previous experience consists of work in advertising and video game industries. As part of Division48, she created animations for games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Might and Magic: Heroes VII.

 

In 2015, Kate joined Marvel Comics and took control over the Mockingbird series — the comic later received an Eisner Award nomination. Other collaborations included clients such as Titan, Valiant, Dark Horse and Blizzard Entertainment — the latter resulting in a comic set in the Overwatch universe.

 

Currently, Kate is partnering with Image Comics and the Mockingbird writer Chelsea Cain on a horror comic series titled Man-Eaters.

Jacek Pilarski is a senior digital matte painter/generalist and concept artist at Framestore.

 

After joining the MPC London team in 2013, he worked on films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Exodus: Gods and Kings, The Martian, Passengers and the Oscar winning Disney's The Jungle Book. Later in his career, he collaborated with Dneg on Assassin's Creed, and then with Framestore on movies like Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

 

Pilarski specializes in photogrammetry, gathering onset references, shooting HDRIs and panoramas for film use and has been a great influence on others in developing these techniques. Over the course of his career, Marco was a character artist for a plethora of game development companies — including THQ, BioWare and Eidos Montreal. Working over at THQ, he’s met Cedric Séaut. They later reunited as members of the Eidos Montreal team and together founded Keos Masons — an outsourcing/concept company which provides various character modeling and concept design services for video game, movie and collectibles industries.

After graduating from an art school in Lyon, Rodrigue started his career as 2D concept artist. Tomasz Radziewicz

Tomasz Radziewicz is a sculptor, character designer and creature concept artist from Poland.

 

He graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk under prof. Stanisław Radwański. He was also a scholar in the atelier of Stephan Balkenhol at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, Germany. Radziewicz is the creator of many monumental statues in Poland, including the Józef Piłsudski Monument in Gdańsk, The Monument of the Pope John Paul II in Przemyśl and Kazimierz Deyna Monument in Warsaw.

 

In recent years, Radziewicz has been working on video game and film-related projects, collaborating with companies like CD PROJEKT RED and Platige Image. In 2014, he designed the Collector’s Edition for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as well as a 2,5 meter high sculpture depicting the witcher Geralt fighting a Noonwraith, with the latter currently on display at the CD PROJEKT RED headquarters in Warsaw.

Jeff Ranasinghe is a CG supervisor and VFX specialist with over 10 years of experience in the creative industry.

 

He grew up in a household filled with diverse musical influences and cultural imagery, and always devoted his free time to exploring creativity and technology. Jeff’s career started during his high school years before getting approached to work on commercials, broadcast works and ultimately big budget feature films and CG animations for Disney and DreamWorks.


His wide net of contacts resulted in meeting Joel “Deadmau5” Zimmerman and Paul Boyd whom Jeff collaborated with on “Professional Griefers” — the highest budget EDM video ever made. He has also supervised and provided his artistic skills on films such Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Maze Runner, and video game cinematics for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. He recently finished work on Marvel's new Ant Man and the Wasp movie, and is hard at work on DC's Aquaman.

Having worked across a variety of studios in Sweden and abroad, Vidar has developed an eye for making characters come to life. He uses this knowledge in all branches of his creative work which involves designing and simulating garments, sculpting digital models, building hard surface accessories, managing outsourcing partners and setting up PBR-materials and shaders. His career started in 1992, as an Application Engineer at Wavefront Technologies GmbH in Germany. Over the years, he became an industry expert for products of Wavefront Technologies, Alias and Autodesk — contributing to the latter was his function as an application specialist which let him test and demonstrate the Autodesk Maya software from its very inception.

Matt Rhodes is a concept artist and illustrator who focuses on telling visual stories. After graduating Alberta College of Art and Design in 2005, he joined BioWare as an intern and later became a Concept Artist. 

 

During nearly 15 years since then, Matt has had the chance to create concept art, production paintings, storyboards and more. His portfolio includes games like Jade Empire, the Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Recently, he took on the role of Art Director for an unannounced title. 

 

Years spent in production have lead Matt to develop what he calls his “storytelling style” which heavily relies on lines and quickly-implemented flat colors. In his spare time, Matt pursues his personal projects — including a visual story called Tellurion.

Nicolas Riviere is an animator working in the video game industry since 1999. Almost 20 years of experience had him travel around the world and collaborate with multiple AAA companies — including Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, Ready at Dawn and Techland.

 

Focusing on cinematic animation, Nicolas contributed to games such as Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. Now, he’s working on an unannounced title with the Techland team in Wrocław, Poland.

Artur Sadlos is an art director, concept artist and illustrator. With over 15 years of experience in both traditional and digital media, he has created new worlds, characters and stories for video games, animations and films. He’s also the founder of Studio Conceptverse.

 

Due to the broad and passionate interest in the process of creation, Artur branched to many creative fields and occupied many positions and roles during the course of his career. He has worked with studios such as Framestore, Buck, Axis Animation, MPC, Platige Image and Techland and his portfolio contains titles like For Honor, The Witcher 3, HITMAN, Halo 5, Total War: Warhammer and Dead Island.

 

Artur has won multiple awards in the field of art direction, concept design and illustration and his works were featured in publications such as Spectrum, ImagineFX, Exotic and Expose.

Andrey Sarafanov

Andrey Sarafanov is a Senior 3D Artist at Wargaming Minsk where he currently works on World of Tanks.

 

He graduated from the Kazan National Research Technical University as a mechanical engineer. Before arriving at the video game industry, he was creating 3D models for jewelry as well as airplane factories. His passion for vehicles and skill in hard surface design finally led him to Wargaming, where he uses his talent to create realistic tank models. Continuously developing his knowledge, he also shares it with other artists via educational live streams and videos.

Michal Sawtyruk is freelance artist based in Warsaw, Poland.

 

After concluding Platige Image’s Animation and VFX courses, Michał began his professional career by joining the team as a Junior Artist. He later became a freelancer and got involved in production for companies like DreamWorks TV, BMW, Cadillac, Axis Animation, Roof Studio and King. His art was featured in publications such as 3DTotal Digital Art Masters, ImagineFX and {slow}.

 

With his main field being illustration and visual development, Michał worked on colorscripts for feature animation like Another Day of Life, provided background art for Halo: The Fall of Reach series, as well as developed concepts and colorkeys for various commercials and cinematics. He’s currently in midst of working on his own short animation project.

Over the years, he’s worked in a variety of fields of digital art. He started as a 3D generalist and transitioned to FX and lighting effects. Furio Tedeschi is a freelancer concept artist, currently working with Paramount Pictures on an unannounced film project.

 

With more than 15 years of professional experience in the entertainment industry, he has worked for studios like Blitz Games, Krome Studios and award winning visual effects company, Mr. X Inc. He has also freelanced for a wide range of clients, such as 343 Industries, Alliance Studios, WB Games, Gameloft, Blur Studio, McFarlane Toys, and Sapphire Technology.

 

More recently, Furio was a Senior Concept and Character Artist at BioWare Montreal, where he contributed to Mass Effect: Andromeda, and later started freelancing at Paramount Pictures, as a Concept Artist on the recently released Transformers: The Last Knight and A Quiet Place.

 

A 3-time ZBrush Summit Sculpt Off Champion, Furio specialises in concept art, art direction, 3D sculptures and character game models. He has an extensive knowledge and competencies in a range of advanced CG software including Photoshop, Mental Ray and VRay 3D Studio Max.

Mateusz Tokarz leads the VFX department at Platige Image.

 

He graduated from the University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland. Afterwards, he studied animation, digital arts and Performance at the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts. His career began at Teyon Games. He later joined Alvernia Studios, where he started as a VFX Generalist to later become CG Supervisor and ultimately — VFX Lead. Mateusz currently works at Platige Image.


The projects he was involved in include Shades of Blue, Alivia and 11 Minutes.

Romain van den Bogaert is a sculptor and character designer based in Lyon, France.

 

His fascination for volumes, shapes and malleable materials started at an early age to later become a passion and a lifelong creative pursuit. Since 2015, Romain has dedicated himself entirely to sculpting, drawing inspiration from legends and lost civilisations. He focuses on facial expression and emotions, with a unique approach to character storytelling. 

 

Romain worked for companies such as Black Sun Miniatures, Nutsplanet, MuMi — Museum of Miniatures, Black Crow Miniatures and Knight Models. His work has also been featured in publications such as Spectrum and 3Dtotal.

Dominik Wawrzyniak

Dominik Wawrzyniak is a layout artist and animation director currently working at Platige Image.

 

His collaboration with Platige Image started in 2009, back when he was a freelancer. 2 years later, he joined the team as a Layout Artist and, starting in 2015, took upon the role of leading the Layout/Previz division. Dominik graduated Animation Films and Film Special Effects at the Direction of Photography and TV Production Department of Łódź Film School, Poland and was granted a scholarship at Animation Institute of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Germany.


His name can be seen in the credits of works such as Another Day of Life, Legendy Polskie, For Honor, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Skull and Bones, and Wonder Woman.

Mathias Zamęcki is a Polish concept artist, whose diversity and range of his artwork styles are dictated by the continuous search for new and fresh ways of communicating stories through art. Over the years, he’s been involved in a wide variety of productions, from advertisement, to games and animations, working on promo art, keyframes, environmental design and color scripting.

 

Mathias worked closely with studios such as MPC, Aaron Sims Creative, Platige Image, Blur Studio, Techland, Unit Image, Psyop and The Line Animation and contributed his concept art to cinematics for games like Heroes of the Storm, The Division, Total War Warhammer and League of Legends.

Alyssa Zarate is a matte painter with over a decade of experience in visual effects.

 

Alyssa started her career as a special effects makeup artist where she worked in production of Cirque du Soleil, Royal New Zealand Ballet, The Phantom of the Opera and numerous television series and feature films. Afterwards, she attended Media Design School in Auchland, New Zealand and received a Fine Arts & Computer Science double degree from The University of Canterbury, fully committing to visual effects.


Currently a Lead Matte Painter at Sony Pictures Imageworks, Alyssa has contributed to such blockbusters as Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Wolverine, Jurassic World, Prometheus, The Chronicles of Narnia and Alice Through The Looking Glass.
